How can you show the beauty of a product through cinematography? For her graduation project, Lola created a series of love stories as part of a new communication strategy for Italian hat brand Borsalino. As the hat played the main role, we decided to keep the characters anonymous throughout the film, only revealing their faces towards the end.
To evoke the idea of old cinema in a contemporary way, we used the nostalgic black frames and the deep depth of field aesthetic, but combined it with tilting shots and split screens. A combination of crisp blues and low-contrast backgrounds let the hats stand out.
